Regina's Reflections

Voices of... GRATITUDE!

For this month I decided to turn this column over to our caregivers, to honor them and their contributions. I sent all caregivers a text asking them to respond to the following question: “What are you thankful for this year?”

Much to my suprise and joy, many caregivers quickly responded. Their texts were beautiful, heartwarming, spontaneous reminders to me of why we so value them all so highly.

Najilah Malika Allen. Hey Regina thanks for the mention in the newsletter! That’s cool. I’m so thankful firstly to God and my always supportive family and for having a job while so many are without one. I’m grateful for good health, happiness and overall prosperity despite what’s going on in the world these days. May everyone have a great holiday season and a happy new year!

Novia Reid. WOW!! I’m honored, I wasn’t expecting anything close to this, but thank you Regina. I’m thankful for you and the inspiration behind you starting Always There. You have not only created many job opportunities and also assisted numerous families who needed care. I’m especially thankful for Kim, because she goes above and beyond and she tries her hardest to match us with the right family. It has been a blessing, being able to stay employed in this pandemic and thankful that through it all I’ve been taking all the necessary precautions to stay safe. So, I’m beyond thankful for life, family and an income. Thanks.

Karenly Sanchez. Looking back at everything that has happened during this year, I want this month to give thanks for life, opportunities, hope and, because even at the distance, loves ones have remained in spiritual union. I am grateful for being able to share with my mother after so many years, for the feeling of pride that she shows every time I go out to work, for every anecdote that I share about my work days and she rejoices when she listens to me. Thanks Regina for your unconditional help. Lord, I give thanks for taking care of me and my love ones health, which in these times we need so much.

Miriam Moate. Oh Regina, you are SUCH a real Human being! Always thoughtful. What am I thankful for this year? A lot! This year brought me closer to my Maker. It made me appreciate what matters. People and not things. As a Caregiver, it made me appreciate more the privilege of being entrusted with God’s people. The Elderly! And I’ve made sure to make every experience a spiritual one. The one that gives the elderly comfortable care, with love and patience. Making them know that they are appreciated and loved and that this is the time for us to give them the selfless care they gave us when we are young. I appreciate you and Kim. I appreciate the thoughtful acts of giving us the snacks and immune boosters while we’re out there working. I’ve never experienced such love and care from an agency. And for that I’ll always be grateful I met you guys.

Marisha Pruitt. Oh wooow. Thank you The first thing that jumped in my head was how thankful I am to wake up every morning. Such a simple thing but I’m very grateful for it. To breathe. To walk. To take care of myself. Those simple task we take for granted sometimes. And we sometimes forget that waking up each day is the first thing we should be grateful for. I’m grateful for the well-being of my family and friends. It’s been a very challenging year for us all. 2020 has taught me that tomorrow isn’t promised, so love and appreciate the people who are in your life.

Am delighted that I am here today to fulfill His divine purpose. 🙏🏼 I am exceedingly blessed to be in good physical shape, and that everybody in my household is also healthy. I am profoundly thankful for it. 🤗 Envision this corona mess without Netflix, the internet or, even more importantly these days of ZOOM or Facebook? I am thankful for all this technology. 😜 When things are not going well, sometimes all it takes is a bit of music, a good laugh to put you in a better mood. After all it is food and medicine for the soul, am thankful. 😴I am privileged to be doing what I love doing. I love my work is rewarding and fulfilling. Sam

Dawn Reed. I am THANKFUL for many blessings that I have received throughout life! Most importantly for my beliefs, family, friends and business relationship with Always There Home Care. This year I am extremely GRATEFUL for Nijhea’s acceptance into University of Hartford Criminal Justice Program! I am equally thankful that my family and friends have been kept safe/healthy throughout this Covid pandemic.

I have a lot to be thankful for as over the years I have been blessed with a beautiful family, good friends and a lot of wonderful memories that will last a lifetime! Over the years, I have provided care for so many people in addition, to those needing end stage care. I am thankful to have been chosen to help people maintain living at home and especially chosen to be their caregiver at end of their life! It is truly a blessing to be a caregiver as I love helping people and making a difference.

Working at Always There Home has provided me with many of these opportunities as well as allowing me to advance in my career. I am thankful for the many opportunities Regina and Kelly provided to me these past twelve years. In a time where humanity is needed the most in this world I am thankful for the opportunities that allow me to volunteer, give back to the community and opportunities to make a difference in another person’s life. I’m am just thankful that I am BLESSED to appreciate the simple things in life! ■
