Kudos From Kelly

Our Everyday Heros By Kelly McNamara

Nadine Meredith: Nadine has been with us for a few years and has always been flexible and willing to take on new clients. In the past month she was caregiver to an elderly Italian man who spoke primarily Italian. Trying some apps on her phone combined with a unique blend of English and Italian sign language they managed to communicate just fine. She was his live in caregiver after his return from the hospital. After a few slow days at home, he had a home haircut, some wonderful food and was in great aspects and improving physically.

But at his advanced age of 92, he slowly began to decline. He was adamant about not returning to the hospital so Nadine stayed focused on managing his symptoms and keeping him as comfortable as possible. He continued to decline considerably and became very ill. His family and he did not choose hospice. So, Nadine provided the best care she could under the circumstances. He died finally, our first client to die at home without hospice.
Special thanks to Nadine for her amazing care and endurance. You are one of a kind!

Keliomayra Saaverdra: Keliomayra is relatively new to us, originally hired as an office assistant helping us with PPE distribution, organization of office supplies and equipment, and even cleaning. But then, suddenly we suddenly needed to fill a case urgently. Kelly had provided care to elderly family members, one of the important qualities we seek in our caregivers. So, we sent her to fill the case and she was very well liked by the client. We sent a few more clients to see and all were very satisfied with her care. But none happier than her latest client Gracie, who spoke only Spanish. Luckily Kellio is fluent in Spanish.

The two became fast friends. Though Gracie is from Peru, their languages were similar enough to chat away. Kellio assisted Gracie with her personal care, exercises and safety. They enjoyed games and conversations, and kept each other company all day. Now a kidney issue has sent her to the hospital, and Kelly will await her return, polishing up her Bingo skills as she waits.
Thanks for all you do, Kellio!!

All caregivers mentioned in this column will receive a bonus and our sincere gratitude! Many thanks to all of you for once again extending yourselves to ensure that we are of course Always There…!!
